INFORMATION

Project Date:  Ongoing
Open to:   Kindergarten to Grade Six Classrooms Around the United States of America
Purpose:   To encourage students to research information about their states and then to share that information in video using FLIPGRID.

INSTRUCTIONS

Introduce the project to your students by going to the flipgrid at https://flipgrid.com/thisismycountry and share some of the state facts students have previously shared.   (Password for the grid will be provided at registration.)
Students may work individually or in teams at the teacher discretion or as a class group.

If you are working on ONE STATE - have students brain storm information that they already know about that state.
Discuss with the students how they know that that information is accurate.   Also, share with students on how to verify information by using some of the sites on the resource page.

If students are researching different states, you might wish to print out a template of the United States or a template of your state to label which student is researching information on which state.

Students Will ....
A.  Need to research information about their state.
This can include (but is not limited to) state facts (bird, fish, flower, etc), state history (statehood date, population, current governor, etc), state trivia (tourism, interesting facts, etc).    Teachers will guide students to verify that their information is accurate.
B.  Be encouraged to listen to previous flipgrid videos so that they can add in NEW information!
C.  Use the provided script as a guideline to write down the information to share.  Students will ONLY use first names.

Teachers are responsible to make sure parents have given permission for their child to create and share video on the internet.
